The last two decades, German power metal artists have been a surprise, by composing music of speed and melody, in a way that every metal fan has accepted and loved. Freedom Call is no different. Dan Zimmermann, drummer of Gamma Ray, and Iron Savior, since they are now a band, and not a project anymore, gathered with vocalist Chris Bay, guitarists Sascha Gerstner and bassist Ilker Ersin, to form Freedom Call, a power metal band with excellent potential to become another successful band. In 1999, they released their first album, Stairway To Fairyland, the songs of which are based on the story of Taragon. That does not mean you should expect something like Rhapsody. Unlike them, Freedom Call did not include a medieval-like touch, so their music is just good-old great power metal. We don't yet know if they will be a concept band, like Blind Guardian, but in any case, they are going to write their own part in the metal history.
