Iron Savior

As teenagers, Kai Hansen and Piet Sielck together with Ingo Schwichtenberg and Markus Grosskopf developed the musical style on which the success of Helloween was based on. Some parts of the old material Kai and Piet wrote together as Gentry, Second Hell and Iron Fist were used later in Helloween and Gamma Ray songs. Piet left the band about a year before the first Helloween release "Metal invaders" got successful. During the early Helloween years Piet's musical activities were put on ice. Sielck started a career as a sound engineer and began working in various local studios in Hamburg. During this time he and Kai produced a demo for a local band Alley Cat and realized that it is fun to produce music together again. After this demo production Sielck moved to L.A. to improve his engineering and producing skills. A year later Piet returned from California and went directly to the Horus Sound studio in Hannover where he started to work on the Gamma Ray "Heading for tomorrow" album as a sound engineer. During this production he started to write songs again. Back in Hamburg he wrote "As time goes by" for the Gamma Ray "Sigh no nore" album. After Kai added a new solo part and a different chorus vocal line the song was ready to be recorded. After the Gamma Ray "Heading for tomorrow" album Sielck started working at the Karo Studios of Kalle Trapp where he first made contact with Blind Guardian and a very successful production team was established. This team continued to work together until today and will also work together in the future. During the last 7 years of studio work and various tours in Europe, Japan, Thailand, Scandinavia, etc (Piet also mixes the band live) a very close friendship between Blind Guardian and Piet Sielck developed. Before going to Copenhagen to work on the Blind Guardian "Imaginations from the other side" album he wrote the song "Iron Savior". People liked it very much so he decided to write and produce a complete album of his own. After the "Forgotten tales" production he got deep into the songwriting business and wrote most of the songs for the album. By autumn 1996 most of the songs were finished and he had to decide what to do with them next. During the Blind Guardian Scandinavia tour the idea came up that Thomen "The Omen" Stauch could eliminate the drum machine and give the thing another musical feeling besides his own feeling. During the vocal recordings a very creative collaboration between Kai Hansen and Piet Sielck developed. This creative force grew more and more and together they wrote the last missing title "Watcher in the sky". After Kai put down some vocal and lead guitar tracks, the general line up for the heavy metal album "Iron Savior" got clearer and clearer. Kai Hansen - lead guitar and vocals, Thomen Stauch - drums and percussion, Piet Sielck - guitar, lead vocals, keyboard, effects and bass guitar. There will also be a special appearence by Hansi Kursch on lead and backing vocals and Dirk Schlachter of Gamma Ray on bass guitar for selected tracks. Iron Savior are working on the next concept album which will continue the story of the first one. Thomen Stauch, who left due to having a lot of work with Blind Guardian, is replaced by Dan Zimmermann of Gamma Ray. Now, with the addition of Jan Eckert as a bassist and Andreas Kuck at the keyboards, they released their new album at the end of 1998, "Unification". Now, in late 1999, Iron Savior have also released a new album called "Interlude", which is pretty much described by its title. It includes live versions of tracks from their first album and a few previously unreleased ones. There is also an edited Judas Priest song and a live recorded video clip of Atlantis. The band seem to get a real kick out of the Savior's story which starts to give birth to sequels. The Iron Savior machine has been defeated, but there had to be a background story for their new "Dark Assault" album, so now the bad guys are aliens from another dimension, and our Iron pal is here to fight them and save us (can't wait to see what they'll make up next...). Apart from the cute story, the new album is really good. Checking it out is recommended. The story began with a misunderstanding, continued with remedy, then followed the usual bad guys, and now the Iron Savior machine must fight against a traitor from Atlantis who possesses a similar machine and telepathic abilities. So sounds the alarm for "Condition Red" and though the story seems to move slowly, the album is fast and strong, with songs that remind us why we love this band. |
